"Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to
I, the Lord, will
And ye ought to say in your hearts—let God a judge between me and thee, and b reward thee according to thy c deeds."
I remember a story of a woman who went through a drive through at McDonalds and ordered coffee. She ended up spilling the coffee on herself and causing severe burns. She in turn took it out on McDonalds because the coffee was extremely hot and sued them, and won.
I have always been amazed at that story because, 1) she blamed them for selling her coffee that was too hot, like we don't know that coffee is meant to be hot, and 2) she won the case receiving millions of dollars. I felt bad for her but coffee is meant to be hot.
Our countenance stops shining, we become more bitter and angry at life. We find blame in others, and in God. It is easy to feel that way, too. But it is a horrible feeling. There are some good examples out there of people who have been able to forgive a trespass and found peace in their trials; trials such as drunk drivers taking the lives of family members. That's not an easy one to forgive but it can happen and bring you peace as well.
If a employee of McDonald's accidentally spills coffee on someone then there could be a reason to sue and get help for medical costs. But, this lady caused the accident herself and should not have won the case. Now, it seems at every turn there is a warning sign about every little thing that "could" happen to you on every packaging label of just about every product. Amazing!
As righteous women we should have a forgiving heart for all people. The scriptures teach us to forgive and God will take care of the justice. I do hope this woman has forgiveness in her heart for McDonald's after all of this. Forgiveness is a key to happiness.
